Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. provides
resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of
surviving families of law enforcement officers killed in the
line of duty as determined by Federal criteria. Furthermore,
COPS provides training to law enforcement agencies on
survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the
need to support the law enforcement profession and its
survivors.

We honor : Lieutenant Michael Avilucea,
New Mexico State Police.
Lieutenant Michael Avilucea was killed in an automobile accident in Rio Arriba County while returning from an operation in which he had assisted with recovering explosives.
His patrol car rolled over as he returned to his normal duty station.
Lieutenant Avilucea had served with the New Mexico State Police for over 26 years, and was commander of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
. Michael is survived my his son, parents, siblings, large extended family and his law enforcement family.

.I encourage all families and co-workers to participate in these events. The programs themselves are funded by the National Chapter of COPS as well as many private corporations.
The only expense to those attending is travel expense. We are actively working on assistance for travel expenses.
